Ramon air force base also known as Wing 25 is located in southern Israel, just above the Ramon Crater. It was built for the IAF after the withdrawal from Sinai in 1977 and was inaugurated in 1982. Five IAF squadrons are based in Ramon AF base. Three of them are flying the most advanced F-16I fighter jet : "The Negev", "The Bat" and "The One". Two combat helicopters squadrons, "The Magic Touch" (AH-64 Apache) and "The Wasp" (AH-64D Apache Longbow) are also based in Ramon AF base.
